How it works
A night from the first plan to the morning after, the promises the app keeps, and everything that’s actually in it.
How it fits
One night, in three moments.
Before you go
Decide while it’s easy
Run the mix past the risk checker. Set what you are and aren’t up for. Start a check-in timer. Five minutes, while you’re still clear-headed.
While you’re out
One tap, nothing to type
The timer asks if you’re alright. Get help already knows your trusted contact and the right emergency number for where you are. Your watch can answer for you.
The morning after
Get it down while it’s fresh
Sleep, how you feel, what actually helped. A minute now is the bit you’ll be glad of in three months.
Promises
What you can count on
Five promises. They’re the reason you can put anything in here without wondering who else is reading.
- You get the facts, never a verdict. It shows what’s known about a mix and leaves the call to you. It doesn’t know your body, your dose, or your night.
- You’re never scored as a person. There’s a number for the day. It stays on your phone, and nothing is ever locked, withheld or judged because of it.
- Every reminder is yours to switch on.They all start off. Turn on the ones you want, and word them so a lock screen gives nothing away.
- You’ll never be asked for an account. An account needs a server. A server means a copy of you, somewhere you can’t reach. So there’s neither.
- It’s free, and it stays free.Every feature, for everyone. You can donate if you want to, and it unlocks nothing, because a safety tool behind a paywall helps the wrong people.
Sound familiar
If any of these is you, it’s for you.
- You want last night remembered properly, by you and nobody else.
- You’re on PrEP, the daily pill that stops you getting HIV, and you’d rather your lock screen didn’t say so.
- You want a way to check in with someone that isn’t a whole conversation.
- You’ve wondered, mid-week, whether it’s more often than it used to be.
- You want the emergency number for wherever you are, without opening a browser.
What you can expect, so nothing surprises you. ChillMate never judges a night, never scores you as a person, and never calls a mix safe. It tells you what’s known and trusts you with the rest.
What’s in it
Private log
Write down a night the way you want to remember it: sleep, how you felt, what helped afterwards.
Your patterns
See what really changes for you over 30 and 90 days, plus a daily score nobody else will ever see.
Care tools
Breathing, a pause when a craving hits, a plan for a safer session, and a route home when you want one.
Risk checker
Plain warnings about mixes, including the medication you already take.
Reminders that fit
Check-in timers, a PEP countdown, and test reminders, worded quietly if you like.
On your wrist
Timers, check-ins and an emergency number on Apple Watch, without reaching for your phone.
Apple Watch
It works while your phone stays in your pocket
Dose timers, water reminders, quiet check-ins, a breathing exercise, and one tap to your trusted contact or the local emergency number. All on the watch, plus a shortcut you can put on your watch face.3
You can check every word of this
ChillMate is open source. Every line that touches your data is public. So you can check this, instead of having to trust me.
The app’s own code makes no internet connections at all. No analytics, no crash reporter, no URLSession anywhere. The only things that leave your phone are the ones you tap.1
It works in your language
The app and this site are in English, Dutch, German, French and Spanish. Help services follow the country you set, not the language you read. Those are two different questions.
